Andréa Mbuyi-Mutombo (born 6 June 1990, in Brussels) is a Belgian football player of Congolese descent who is currently plays for Standard Liège reserve team.

Career

Mbuyi-Mutombo began his career in the youth from R.S.C. Anderlecht, then in 2006 joined FC Brussels. After one year at Strombeek he was scouted and signed for Portsmouth.

Then Mbuyi was sent on loan from Portsmouth to feeder club S.V. Zulte Waregem on 22 August 2008.[1]

He scored on his debut for Waregem, scoring in the 89th minute against KV Mechelen, just minutes after being substituted into the game.[2] He scored yet again in his next match against AFC Tubize.

After only six months, the Congolese midfielder has returned to Portsmouth from S.V. Zulte Waregem, who has played 14 games and scored three goals.[3] Mutombo was supposed to stay in Belgium on loan until June, but the Belgian club officials were not happy with his attitude.

Following his release, he underwent trials at Dutch Eredivisie side NEC Nijmegen.[5] He was linked with moves to Genoa, Sporting Lisbon and Sporting Braga. On 19 June 2009, the 18 year old attacking midfielder joined Standard Liège on a two year deal.

On 29 July 2011, Manchester United declared their interest in the player, with the manager Alex Ferguson dubbing him as a player for the future.[6]

International

He also a youth international for Belgium,[7] he presents his homeland at under 18 level.
